Why add a second electric motor ?
Installing an electric motor on your boat that already has an internal combustion engine can be complex and might require big modifications to the boat. Besides, the autonomy is limited by the size of the battery pack.
The idea of our partner BLUENAV is to install a second electric motor to allow you to benefit from the advantages of both kinds of motors :
- Silence and cleanliness with an electrical one
- Power, speed and autonomy with the thermal one
The electric turbines allow you to switch from one propulsion mode to another in an instant.
How does mild hybrid motorization work ?
The principle is simple :
- BlueSpin electric turbines are installed on the back of the boat, or under the stern platform. Therefore there are no major modifications to be made to the structure.
- The turbines are retractable in order to avoid an unnecessary hydrodynamic drag when the boat is in thermal mode.
- You can switch to thermal mode just by pressing a button
The advantages of this electric motorization ?
With an electric motor, the pilot would be able to enjoy the silence and the absence of odors when he is navigating at low speed while out for a ride, fishing, entering or going out of the port while taking advantage of the torque of the electric motor (the option of a steerable turbine is available)
You will also be able to sail in protected natural areas.

With BLUESPIN, you can take advantage of the power of an internal combustion engine and clean and silent sailing of electric motors.
A steerable option is available to facilitate maneuvering.

BLUESPIN is a mild hybridization system ready to be installed only as a complement to an internal combustion engine..
The BLUESPIN turbine is retractable and rotatable in order to avoid the drag when the boat is in thermal mode and to facilitate port maneuvers.
You will benefit from the power of the thermal engine and the clean and silent navigation of the electric motor, when you arrive or leave the port, when you go for a ride at low speed or to navigate in protected zones.
Note that it can be installed on either of its 3 sides.

Night Ocean is a yacht type “PICNIC sport”
From the Dubourdieu shipyard.
It measures 12m, it is equipped with two inboard internal combustion engines, 370 CV
as well as 2 retractable BLUESPIN turbines of 15kW.
This motorization gives it an autonomy of 4 hours in electric mode at a speed of around 6 knots.
